MLB Expands Use of “Robo Umps” in Spring Training – DeFiance Media – 2.24.25
DeFiance Daily – Major League Baseball is testing its Automated Ball-Strike (ABS) system, or “robo umps,” in approximately 60% of Spring Training games in Florida and Arizona. This marks the first time the technology will be used in MLB games, following years of testing in Minor League Baseball. While home plate umpires will still make calls, players can challenge balls and strikes using the ABS system.
