Renewables Overtake Coal for the First Time in Global Power Generation – DeFiance Media – 10.14.25

DeFiance Daily – For the first time in history, renewable energy sources generated more electricity than coal worldwide during the first half of 2025. According to Ember’s Global Electricity Mid-Year Insights 2025 report, solar and wind together met and exceeded all global demand growth—pushing renewables’ share of electricity to 34.3%, ahead of coal’s 33.1%.
