Can I buy and sell cryptocurrencies on this website? 

Yes, we facilitate some cryptocurrency transactions for your convenience, but we do not conduct the transactions ourselves, and we do not offer wallet or storage services. You will need an external wallet (hot or cold) to send or receive cryptocurrency. Note that not all coins are available to trade; availability is subject to both your location and payment method. As such, the presence of a “trade” button does not guarantee the ability to trade, the determination is made by our partners at the time of the trade. 

How do I buy or sell cryptocurrency?

The process is simple once you’re set up: 

(1) Personal Identification and Payment Method

After you click the trade button, you’ll need to verify your email address. Then you’ll need to enter your personal information. Note that your geographical location will determine whether a particular coin is available for trade. Next you’ll need to enter your payment information. Note that your payment method will also determine whether a particular coin is available for trade. If a coin is available in your region, but the payment method is not, try another payment method. You may need to verify some identifying documents before you’re able to trade. Once your identity and payment methods are verified, you won’t need to enter this information again. 

(2) External Wallet

We don’t offer wallet or storage services, so you’ll need to bring your own wallet to send or receive cryptocurrency. You can use an online hot wallet like Exodus or Edge, or an offline cold wallet like Ledger or Trezo. The wallet you choose is up to you, we don’t endorse or guarantee any particular brand. Just make sure the wallet you use is compatible with the cryptocurrency you’re trading. For example, some wallets only send and receive Bitcoin, so if you need to set up a wallet before you make a transaction on this website. 

(3) Buy or Sell

Once your personal information, payment information, and wallet are set up, you can buy and sell cryptocurrency with ease.

Why is the price to buy or sell different than what’s listed on the main website?

The coin prices shown on the website ticker and listings page are just a guide, and not an actual reflection of the price you’ll get from a buy or sell transaction. This is because there is no centralized price for a particular cryptocurrency; each crypto exchange has its own prices, and they fluctuate rapidly. Since DeFiance Media is not a cryptocurrency exchange, we can only offer seamless access to exchange services as a convenience. For example, at the time of this writing, the price of BTC is $46,238 on Coinbase; $46,159 on Binance; $46,504 on Kraken; and $46,104 on CoinGecko. As such, the prices in our trading module are based on the particular exchange our partners use for that coin, which we have no control over, and which may be different than the price we’re showing in our listing. 

Are there fees for buying and selling cryptocurrency? 

Yes, there are per-transaction fees which vary depending on the payment method. 

Does DeFiance have a record of cryptocurrency transactions?

No, DeFiance does not have any visibility of your transactions, they are encrypted and not stored on our servers, so we don’t have records of any kind. For your transaction history, initiate a trade using the trade button of any coin, verify your email, then click on the [=] icon and you should find a history of your transactions.
