Purdue University researchers have unveiled a groundbreaking vision system called HADAR, or heat-assisted detection and ranging, which enhances machine perception in low-light conditions. By combining thermal physics, infrared imaging, and machine learning, HADAR enables robots to “see” in darkness with the same clarity as they can in daylight.
