Adrian Eidelman, founder of RootstockLabs, introduces Rootstock, a smart contract platform built on Bitcoin and launched in 2018. Rootstock enables decentralized applications (E-Apps), particularly in the Bitcoin DeFi space, allowing users to use their Bitcoin to access services like lending, borrowing, and earning yield. The platform is secured through merged mining with Bitcoin, sharing 80% of its hash rate and aligning incentives with Bitcoin miners. Rootstock’s goal is to become the leading platform for DeFi opportunities using Bitcoin as the core asset.
