What are the past, present and future of NFTs?

  • The past: The first NFT was on Namecoin in 2011, with CryptoKitties and CryptoPunks rising to popularity in 2017.
  • The present: NFT marketplaces have experienced ups and downs, with WAX emerging as a strong proponent of green NFTs due to low gas fees. Blur has also taken off as a popular marketplace.
  • The future: Cross-operability between chains is crucial for NFTs to thrive, and NFTs must move beyond purely monetary value as influencers and celebrities have been promoting them without understanding their true value.
